HVR®280 High-Voltage Connectors for Electric Vehicle Applications

Up to 310 A / 1200 V – Reduced System Complexity and Assembly-Optimized Design

 

Rosenberger has introduced the HVR®280, a high-voltage connector designed for modern e-mobility platforms. The series combines high performance with a simplified design and operates at voltages of up to 1200 V DC and currents of up to 310 A at 85 °C.

Applications include battery packs, inverters, power distribution units (PDUs), and drive units in hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery-electric, and fuel cell vehicles.

The development focused on reducing system complexity while meeting increasing performance requirements. The reduced number of components simplifies assembly and integration, and the design is specifically tailored to automated manufacturing processes. This shortens assembly times and increases process reliability — a decisive factor for OEMs and cable assemblers.

 

Optimized for Integration and Manufacturing

The assembly-optimized design supports cable cross-sections of 35 mm², 50 mm² and 70 mm² for both copper and aluminum wires. Straight and right-angled cable connectors can be combined with the same header, enabling flexible integration while reducing the required installation space, weight, and materials. The design also facilitates integration into existing production lines for automated cable harness production.

A locking mechanism with a lever and CPA ensures a secure connection, and HVIL (High Voltage Interlock) is available as an option. The connector is RoHS-compliant and manufactured according to the 'local-for-local' principle. 

 

Designed for High-Performance Applications

With an operating voltage of up to 1200 V DC and a current capacity of 310 A at 85 °C, the HVR® 280 is ideal for current and future generations of vehicles. The system also offers a short-time current capacity of up to 653 A for 100 seconds. 

Compliant with vibration class V2 in accordance with DIN/TS 70214:2025-11 PG 17, as well as the temperature profile per DIN EN IEC 60068-2-14 (VDE 0468-2-14), the series is also qualified for operation in demanding environmental conditions.

Product Portfolio

The HVR®280 series comprises straight and right-angled cable connectors, as well as matching header variants. Optional feed-through designs are also available for busbars. All variants are compatible with one another and are designed for automated manufacturing processes.
